Forklift Training in Johannesburg Midrand Lenasia

Students must complete all prerequisites before enrolling:
– All applicants must be at least 18 years old.
– Applicants must have at least one year of operating forklifts or other similar machinery experience or have graduated from an accredited heavy machinery operator school.
– All participants are required to pass a medical evaluation prior to the course start date, including any additional tests specified by their employer or as required by OSHA guidelines.

The objectives of this program include:
– Acquire knowledge and understanding of OSHA rules and regulations pertaining to powered lift truck operations.
– Demonstrate proper loading, unloading and transport methods for materials being moved on a powered lift truck.

– Identify parts of a powered lift truck and understand their uses.
– Explain basic operational safety practices including safe driving practices, pedestrian safety procedures, personal protection equipment (PPE), power equipment warning signs and signals, and material handling procedures such as palletizing and stacking goods correctly.

– Analyze powered lift truck control functions including speed selection and throttle position as related to various ground conditions; anticipate and plan how best to navigate different surfaces while ensuring stability of the vehicle.
– Assess capability of terrain relative to loaded/unloaded vehicle operation; plan paths of travel when navigating curves; demonstrate positioning techniques for loading docks, mezzanines and areas requiring tight turns or small spaces for lifting goods onto shelves; select best suited lifts for specific tasks; select forks that meet necessary load weight requirements; safely maneuvering the load up or down inclines using counterbalancing techniques; operating the lift safely in an overhead environment such as conveyor belts where vision is restricted due to beam height restrictions or reduced aisle space widths; be able to position a loaded vehicle in line with discharge area when dropping off goods so they may be offloaded easily by hand carts or hoists.

At the completion of this program successful participants will receive certification as approved by OSHA upon passing both written and practical assessments given at end course assessment days. They may then continue their education into advanced operations for specific industries, should it be required.
